Good notes. With regards to how we can help Northside Mart, I would not offer up that we help pick up trash for them. They need to deal with the litter and other problems that occur as a result of their business and we need to set this as our expectation of them. They have two businesses just across the street that sell food/drink and are always clean, don't have the loitering problems, etc. Those are the business models we should be insisting that they apply. I think within the next month we need to be sitting down with them and telling them that if they don't get it turned around we're going to be making life much harder for them just as we did for McPerry's. They only have to go to Fergus & Chase to see what happened to McPerry's when people were fed up and how things are so much better because of it. Just my thoughts. We didn't set a place to meet but I'll try to set up meeting place at Hanfield and Witler corner. Of the 7 recommended for the BW area, 1 has been removed from the list, 1720 Hanfield. Sean said he met with Masud to inspect the property after Masud did some repairs and approved the house as being eligible for occupancy. The ones in BW that were on the original list we'll look at are: 4125 Lakeman. 4133 Lakeman 4136 Lakeman 4139 Witler 4141 Witler 4154 Witler In our last phone discussion I asked he include 4119-4127 Witler also. In addition, Melissa McVay, from Councilman Berding's office, is looking to feature several properties in a couple of the Multi-Neighborhood Housing Task Force's neighborhoods that have numerous litter and building complaints who owners (Bank and private) are repeat offenders in a press release sometime this Thursday also. She has photos of three houses from Northside I turned in at a previous MNHTF meeting and said she'd come to Northside to take pictures of some others I listed that we've consistently reported for problems for several years in a row. I referred her to Ed to get photos of the ones recommended for demolition. The press release will demonstrate the reason why the City's new VBML Ordinance was designed for the City to take these owners to criminal court, place liens on these properties and ultimately take possession if the owner fails to comply. The Department of Community Development and Planning has chosen three neighborhoods (Avondale, East Price Hill and Northside) to implement the new VBML Ordinance to see how it will work. Representatives from those neighborhood development corporations will be meeting with Margaret Weurstle (DCDP) June 13 to determine what kind of help they need from the City in order to accept properties acquired through liens and put them back into compliance. Talmadge sent a copy of the notice that Louie and I now own 4113 Witler. Another person has expressed interest in having a garden space - Melodie who lives at 1715 Blue Rock. Great notes Shelley! Queenea is the correct spelling. Her last name is Sprawl. Thanks. And I agree with Dave. I think the store owners should take the responsibility for trying to make Blue Rock and Witler a safe and clean area.
