Bike patrol: Laura, Dave (need 1 more) Can anyone step up to fill the third slot on the bike patrol? Laura and Dave: if no one is available, we'd love to have you walk with us. It'd be terrific to have two groups out -- it's been a while since we've had enough people to do that. Officer Windeler has cautioned that we do not patrol if it's warmer than 95, but I think it'll be below that by 7pm. We must, however, be careful to balance out our exertion with sufficient stops for cool refreshment. Pls get any changes/corrections to me by 6:15pm -- Tori 542-1897 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: <006d01c6c067$7e144560$6401a8c0@g6m3b01> CPOP Team Members, When the Cincinnati Police administration announced the elimination of the neighborhood officer program and its replacement with a CPOP officer program, they said they would seek public feedback within several months on how the new program was working. This hasn't happened. We've heard indirectly that some neighborhoods are pleased with the changes while others are not. My opinion is that prior to the change, Northside and District 5 had built one of the most effective neighborhood officer programs in the city. I believe the new program has been a significant downgrade despite the outstanding individual efforts and involvement of several within the district. In particular, I would acknowledge Kat's outstanding contributions towards our community safety projects despite having what probably feels to her (and us) like one hand tied behind her back in the form of everything else she has to do. Should the meeting below be well attended (read packed), it would send a strong message to police administration and city government that they should take note that this is a subject that concerned citizens from around the city are very much interested in. Conversely, if it's not well attended it will send the opposite signal that Cincinnati citizens are either satisfied or not concerned enough to give it their time. I'd encourage you to attend if you or those neighborhood projects you're working on have been impacted by the loss of our neighborhood officer program. Please pass this on to others who you feel would be interested in attending. Best Regards, Dave Note to Skip, Shelley & Cindy - Please forward to anyone that has attended our meetings that may not be on the distribution list. ----- Original Message ----- From: DawnLongworth5 at aol.com Sent: Monday, August 14, 2006 11:41 AM Subject: Re: Neighborhood Police Officers--THIS Thursday! As a reminder to everyone, this meeting was moved to the Madisonville Recreation Center and will take place this Thursday, Aug 17th at 6:30pm. Please bring information to the meeting about the changes that have occurred since the new "neighborhood officers" plan has been implemented. What activities did your officer held coordinate, did they attend monthly council meetings, has your communication with your department been affected? What changes, if any, have you seen and have they had a positive or negative impact on your neighborhood? What would you like to see happen to the neighborhood officer program? I encourage you to pass this information on to those you feel would be interested in this matter. If you are able to please contact me with information on if you will be able to attend or approximately how many from your neighborhood will be at the meeting. Thank you again for everyone's overwhelming response to this meeting. For me, it has shown how many people in the City want to work with police officers and I feel that is a strong message that needs to made. Thanks again, Dawn Longworth President of The Hartwell Improvement Assoc. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
