LaBoiteaux Woods Nature Center will host Cincinnati Wild! Nature through Art on Saturday, March 10 from 2 until 5 p.m. Nature art and photography by area adults will be on display along with art from children's classes held at LaBoiteaux Woods in College Hill. Much of the adult art will be for sale.
Enjoy the art, and bring your sketchpad, canvas or camera to capture spring at the preserve. Programs and demonstrations during the show include:
2:30 Robert J. Miller will be presenting tips for nature macro photography. (close-ups) A photographer for 35 years, Bob will show you how to take outstanding close-ups with only a small investment in equipment. He has shown his nature and travel photos and taught photography workshops including for UC's Institute for Lifetime Education. His photos were selected to appear in the Miami Group Sierra Club calendar for 2007. Recent photos highlight Highlands Nature Sanctuary in Highland County.
3:30 Mary Jo Corrado will lead children six and older in tempera painting. Mary Jo has been teaching art classes at LaBoiteaux Woods for over twenty years. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Cincinnati, previously taught art at Wyoming High School and after school art enrichment at Colerain Middle School. Children six years and older can try their hand at a nature art project.
4:30 Mary Louise Holt, a professional artist, will talk about her art and will paint on site during the show. Mary Lou graduated with honors with a BFA from the College of Mount Saint Joseph. Her professional career includes work as a graphic designer, illustrator, portrait artist, courtroom artist and exhibits creator. She is a member of Masterworks for Nature, a prestigious group of regional artists, whose exhibits promote conservation.
